New Fall Wreath

I can't wait for fall to come any longer, it's been a great summer but I'm totally over this HOT weather. So I'm going to imagine that it's cooling down here and start decorating my house for fall. Maybe I can trick myself into feeling like it's getting cooler. Hehehe. In part of my excitement for fall I decided to make a new front door wreath times two, because we have double front doors.

I was inspired to make a new wreath after watching an InstaStory from Bowerpower where she updated an existing wreath with some new fall picks. Previously I had made a super easy wreath using supplies from the dollar store that only cost $4, you can check it out here and they still sell similar supplies so you could make one too, but that was back when we lived in a house with only one front door. It seems silly that we've lived in this house for five years now and I've still only had ONE wreath on my front door!

I was at JoAnn's and they were having a super sale so I went a little crazy and bought all the supplies! They are always having sales and have great coupons so I'm sure you could do similar...

I bought everything with the plan of dividing it into two. The flower bunches were big enough that I only needed to buy one of each. Here is what I bought:

  • 2 Twig Wreaths
  • 1 bunch of large Red Sunflowers
  • 1 bunch of medium sun flowers
  • 4 White flower picks
  • 2 Acorn & pine cone picks
These flower bunches are great, you get so many flowers for such a good deal. All you have to do is snip their stems off to separate them. If you have wire cutters those work best, but regular scissors will work too.

I quickly assembled both wreaths in 4 easy steps. First I added the three large red sunflowers. I spread them out to allow room to fill in with the other flowers. I also stuck in some of the extra leaves from the bouquet for some greenery.

Next I added the beautiful white flower picks. These are handy because they come with multicolored leaves and little berries all attached together.

Thirdly I added the medium sized yellow sunflowers. When I cut my bunch apart I had enough for three per wreath.

Finally I added the little pick with acorns and tiny pine cones in at the bottom.

And that's it, super easy! I liked the look of not filling the whole wreath in but rather seeing the exposed twigs, they go with the season.

Check out how great it goes with the rest of my front door decor, click here.

Have you ever made a wreath before? I was scared of doing any type of flower arranging for such a long time, but now I just love it! Even when you think it's looking terrible all you have to do is take a step back and the flowers work their magic and make it beautiful no matter what! Yay fall colors are here!!!! I feel cooler already!!!

I apologize for a lot of missing pictures, especially in older posts. I was using PhotoBucket to host my pictures, but they've changed their rules and no longer allow links to them.
I will be re-uploading the pictures, but it may take some time...
