Regency Tea Demonstration Dance

Last week the group that we dance with in Orange County received a special invitation to do a demonstration of Regency era English Country Dance for the Victorian Tea Society of Orange County who were holding a Jane Austen Tea at the Heritage Museum of Orange County. Now say that ten times fast!

Ben and I were very excited to participate in this for a couple of reasons. First off we love any excuse to dress up and dance. But even more excitingly, this was the location of our wedding! You can see pictures of it here.

This was a very nice and well organized event. I would've been happy just attending just as a guest! They even had two tables set up for their demonstration dancers!

As you might have noticed it was COMPLETELY Jane Austen themed!

I loved that some of the attendees even dressed up, so we were not the only ones in period attire!

I found the organizers quite adorable!

We loved our seating location right next to the rose garden.

Marcee and Diane looked lovely in purple.

Who's that? Just the handsomest guy around!

These two beautiful ladies are two our newest dancers and a mother and daughter duo! We can thank mom Teri for taking lots of photos and video of us dancing!

At the start of the meal they served us delicious tea and scones.

Then it was time for us to demonstrate English country dancing.

We danced a few dances and then invited guests from the audience to join us in dancing.

On the left you can spot Judee our dance instructor/caller. She did a wonderful job explaining how the style of dance works and some of the basic steps. This made it super easy to start teaching the volunteers how to dance.

Here are two short video clips of our performances.

After our performance we had a yummy boxed lunch waiting for us (the tea guests ate their lunch while we danced). If you look carefully at the bottom of the box you might recognize a common restaurant name - Chic Fil A!

We were quite surprised when we opened our boxes!

And then a delicious desert plate arrived!

The Heritage Museum has lots of beautiful places to explore. And the Kellogg house was open for self-guided tours, so of course we went in!

You might think we're all seriousness, but we're actually quite the playful group!

Our two handsome naval men!

This house was built with a real ship's mast right up the center and lots of fun balconies.

We may have had a little too much fun playing photo shoot...

Emily decided to go back to school.

Ilima wanted to consult her on an Austen question.

More stairs photos!

See I told you, silly!

All good things must come to an end. Honestly it was such a wonderful day, I really hope they ask us to do this again!

Missing Photos

I apologize for a lot of missing pictures, especially in older posts. I was using PhotoBucket to host my pictures, but they've changed their rules and no longer allow links to them.
I will be re-uploading the pictures, but it may take some time...
