The Revolution Event 2020

It's Revolution Time! Don't worry, we were just recreating the one that happened nearly 250 years ago. This was Cassandra's first Colonial era event, and she loved it!

Anza 2018

Typically our Anza reenactment is held in the spring, but due to some health issues that our host was having we had to delay. Happily he is doing much better and invited us all up for some fun this last weekend.

Trafalgar Day 2018

This past Sunday we celebrated the British victory at the battle of Trafalgar. We had a wonderful picnic celebration in honor of Admiral Nelson. Please enjoy my photographic storytelling of the event.

Playford to the Present Ball

This weekend for the first time ever we bravely decided that we were good enough dancers to attend the esteemed Playford to the Present Ball in Pasadena, CA. In the past we've always felt inadequate to attend this ball, because the dances are not taught there and the caller only calls the first round or two and then leaves you on your own. I'm so glad that he does this, because it is just magical when suddenly you realize the whole room is dancing in unison to the music. Dana Point Tall Ships Festival 2018

This past weekend we spent our days living in the 18th century again. We set up camp at Dana Point Harbor and Ben participated in the annual pirate skit aboard the Pilgrim.

Carolyn's 1st Official Tea Party

Carolyn is obsessed with playing tea party and I've been waiting till she could finally attend a real tea party. Luckily I did not have to wait long because one of my friends from our dancing group enjoys hosting tea parties and invited us!

Admiral Nelson Ball 2018

We had another wonderful time at the annual Admiral Nelson Ball! I think the secret is out and everyone knows we love English Country Dancing! Now we are on the ball committee! Here are a few of our photos from the evening.

Pirate Days 2018

This weekend Ben and our crew headed down to San Diego for The Maritime Museum's Pirate Days festival. We had a lot of fun hanging out aboard the HMS Surprise and attempting to press the pirates into the naval service. As I went through all my photos I realized I didn't get a single one with an actual pirate in it though!

Regency Tea Demonstration Dance

Last week the group that we dance with in Orange County received a special invitation to do a demonstration of Regency era English Country Dance for the Victorian Tea Society of Orange County who were holding a Jane Austen Tea at the Heritage Museum of Orange County. Now say that ten times fast!

Colonial Ball

Finally a colonial era ball that we could attend! Ben and I were so excited to be able to go to this ball. We've been to countless Regency balls but this was our first Colonial/Georgian.

Birthday Ball

I had dreams of throwing a regency ball for my 30th birthday, and with some help that's just what I did! Sorry this post has been overdue for two years now, but hey it was just my birthday so I thought I'd pretend I'm only 30 again!

Regency Gold Open Gown

I made a new regency open gown!  I LOVE it especially because it it goes over my other gowns that I've made and I can use it as a mix-n-match piece!

Old Fort MacArthur Days 2014

It's that time of year again, our big reenactment event with the public time!  Old For MacArthur Days was Ben and my 1st reenactment 5 years ago, so I guess you could say it was our reenacting anniversary!

New Colonial Gown

The crazy lady that I am, I decided to start sewing a new gown for this weekend's event on Tuesday.

Here's the pattern and the new fabric.  I used the JP Ryan Robe Anglaise pattern view A.

By Friday morning this is how far I had gotten.

I can't believe I did it, I finished the gown by Friday afternoon before we left for the event.  There will be more pictures to come soon!

Admiral Nelson's Ball 2014

This was our first time attending the Admiral Nelson's Ball and it was wonderful!

The Jane Austen Evening, Pasadena 2014

Recently Ben and I, along with several friends, attended our second Jane Austen Evening in Pasadena.  It was a wonderful evening full of splendid dancing, good conversation and food!

Regency Embroidered Blue Silk Gown

Exactly one week before the Jane Austen Evening I decided that I wanted to make a new gown.  I had finished my new stays and petticoat and so Ben and I rushed to the LA Fabric District to go find me some silk!
