Christmas at the Cottage - Christmas Home Tour 2018

I'm so excited that we have an extra week to celebrate Christmas this year! There's nothing like the cozy feeling you get with all the twinkle lights glowing along with a crackling fire. Last night Carolyn and I snuggled up with blankets and pillows in front of the fire place and read Christmas stories. Oh these are the best memories, and I will cherish them for as long as I live.

Many homes have a dinner bell, they're a great way to let everyone know the food is hot and ready. We have a new dinner bell in our house, but ours is a little different, it is very much nautically themed!

Welcome Fall

Hooray fall is finally here!  I cheated and have been slowly decorating my house with fall decor since September 1st, but now I can legitimately bring out the rest of the decorations!

Fixing the Shower Faucet Take Two

We officially have a track record with Moen faucets now.  While living at our rental house the shower faucet began to leak, and we decided that we'd practice our homeowner skills and try to fix it!  Wrong!  What we did was make a hole in the wall and make life miserable by having to live with no water until we were rescued by the plummer!  What did we learn from our adventures in faucetland?  Moen cartridges like to break (or said the Home Depot man)!

New Dishwasher

We knew when we were buying this house that the dishwasher was dead.  Seriously, it had drowned in its own water and was alive no more.  The home inspector didn't believe me/previous home owners so he ran it, it filled up with water, and then we got to live with the beautiful stench that is standing water because it would not drain.  So buh-bye old dish washer, thank you Home Depot man for removing him and taking him away!

Just Moved In

We know lots of you are curious to see what the house looks like now that we have moved our stuff in.  Please don't mind the boxes and junk lying around, we're still in unpacking and figuring out where everything goes mode.  Without further ado, our new house:

Moving Day

Thanks to our awesome family we are all moved into our new house!  Luckily we had great weather for the move and everything went smoothly!  Lucy decided that she was the project manager for the day.

And the color is blue!!!  Our living room/dining room/kitchen/entryway are all blue now and we LOVE it!  This place is really starting to look like the Clearwater Cottage that we imagined (minus the water, we'll add that eventually).

The house is offically ours!  Here we are on our first Saturday as new homeowners!

Cleaning Grout

We move into our new house in just one short week.  That means I've got lots of projects to crunch out first.   Yesterday was clean the grout day!  Okay, so I started on the grout, but there is NO WAY I finished it all yesterday, the house is more than 50% tile floors people!

House Hunt Update

We FINALLY have a house hunt update for everyone!  We started looking for a house exactly a year ago, and yesterday we found out from our realtor that our offer on the short-sale we put an offer on back in September has been accepted by the bank!  Now the house has a second mortgage from a different bank, but most likely we will be accepted also.  Hooray!
