Mini Family Vacation to Big Bear

A few weeks ago we decided to try something new and rented an AirBnB in Big Bear for two nights.

We rented the cutest little one bedroom cabin! I actually got the idea from my one of my favorite blogs Young House Love, they rented a place and brought their chihuahua Burger and shared how it was a great experience.  We found a perfect little cabin called the Cozy Cabin and decided to bring Lucy and Teddy along for the vacation too!

Carolyn couldn't get over how big the tree was in the front yard, until she discovered the chairs that she could sit in!

Oh how she loved those chairs!

Enough of the outside, let me show you how cute it was inside!  It totally looked like Chip and Joanna Gaines decorated this place!
The place is literally two rooms total, but they fit it all in!

This was the perfect corner to put Carolyn's Pack'n'Play.

Ben loved that they did the same curtain rod idea that we did in our youth room.  Speaking of that, I owe you a post on our youth room at church!  We did a total redecorating job on it and our quite proud of our handy work!

Dogs were allowed and even allowed on the furniture - as long as you put down the doggy sofa cover and blankets so their fur didn't get trapped in the fabrics.  They provided a nice bucket of supplies to make it easy.

I love that they thought of everything we might need - down to a brand new sponge for the sink and old, slightly used sponges and rags underneath.

We brought our own coffee just in case, but we didn't even need to!

And they had way more than we even have at home in the area of tv viewing! Cable tv, apple tv, dvd player, boy we were set!

One of the reasons we chose this place was because it had a fully fenced in yard, which was perfect for the dogs!

On our first night up the mountain we went out to eat at a great restaurant called Fire Rock Burgers and Brews.  They allowed dogs, so we ate on the patio with them.  We let Carolyn try coloring for the first time.

She seems to favor her left hand, so we gave that one a try first.

The next day we went for a hike in the nearby National Forest, we didn't even need to drive there, just walked down the street and there was a trail head!

Poor Lucy ruptured an eardrum so she was having balance issues and needed to be carried. I swore I'd never make her a purse dog, but this was a special exception.

Can you tell which side is having troubles?  She's such a good little patient!  I took her to the vet up in Big Bear as soon as we discovered something was wrong.  Hopefully it will fully heal with time.

We took full advantage of having a little kitchen, making pancakes for breakfast.  Carolyn was sooooo excited to try her first pancake!  I've been super strict about not giving her processed foods yet, so this was a halfway point (we used the box mix for Kodiak Cakes).

Ben made us a yummy pasta dinner the next night.

And Carolyn loved how she could walk all over the little house.  I think she quite enjoyed this little vacation!

Have you stayed in an AirBnB before?  How did you enjoy it?

Missing Photos

I apologize for a lot of missing pictures, especially in older posts. I was using PhotoBucket to host my pictures, but they've changed their rules and no longer allow links to them.
I will be re-uploading the pictures, but it may take some time...
