This year Ben and I purchased Disneyland annual passes, it has been several years since we could afford them. But through the generosity of Ben's mom giving us tickets for Christmas and our Disney points from the creditcard we decided to go for it! Some of the perks of having an annual pass are that you get goodies in the mail, like this cute calendar.
It was full of our favorite types of prints for rides in the park!
We selected four of our favorites, but really wanted to add this Red Car Trolley to the collection too, so we ended up going with 6 favorite pictures.
The hard part was that the prints were not normal picture frame sizes, so I bought frames that included matting. Then Ben trimmed the matting to fit our pictures. And wala, we had instant art that we LOVE!
Ben set up his workshop on the kitchen counter due to the excellent lighting.
He measured the size of the picture and then drew lines on the matting to match.
Then he cut out the the matting to match.
He was careful to cut nice and straight, and not to over-cut.
Then we tested the matting to the picture, it fit perfectly!
We decided that we wanted to hang the pictures above the hall counter.
We spaced them out and nailed them up, ta-da!
Our favorite posters for their style (and for enjoyment) were The Colombia, The Railroad, The Monorail, The Tiki Room, The Matterhorn and The Trolly.
Little by little our house is becoming a home and getting some of our personality put into it! What special decorations have you added to your home?
Hi Loni, I LOVE your Disney art as we are huge, huge fans here! I have also been looking at a few collections of art posters from the theme parks. You did a fabulous job of hanging them--it is really difficult to get multiple frames to hang properly. I think you are my teacup fairy and if you are I really love it, too! The dainty flowers are just beautiful and I can't wait to try the tea. It's so cold here today so it will be perfect for this afternoon. Have a wonderful day! Linda
ReplyDeleteYou caught me! I'm so glad to hear that you love your teacup! And it is so neat to know that you're a Disney fan too! It's a small world after all! :)
DeleteThis is a super cute idea! Great job. Thanks so much for sharing at the Pinworthy Projects Party!
ReplyDeleteI have been looking for an idea of what to do with these wonderful "mini" posters since I got the calendar last year! Can you tell me what size the frames are from Ikea that you used? The posters are such an odd size. Thanks in advance. Love your idea!!
ReplyDeleteHi Jodi! We searched high and low to find frames with mats that were the right size and finally I bit the bullet and purchased the Ikea Virserum frames in 7 3/4 x 9 3/4" but you could probably pick any frame that is larger than the prints. After trimming the mat they fit great and no one has ever noticed that they were cut! Let me know how yours turn out! :)
